The Paradise Lamp is part of the Zulu Collection which was designed and created in collaboration with Porcupine Rocks who showcase modern African design.
This piece was inspired by the tropical plant Strelitizia or Bird of Paradise, which is native to South Africa and has unusually beautiful spiky flowers resembling a brightly coloured bird in flight.
Paradise was designed specifically with the Porcupine Rocks’ Kukau fabric in mind. The colours in the fabric match perfectly with the glazes of the ceramic lamp.
The Zulu Collection was created in collaboration with Porcupine Rocks, inspiration was drawn from tribal heritage, engravings, ceremonial masks and African flora and fauna. Each table lamp was designed to marry up with particular fabrics from the Porcupine Rocks collection, great care being taken with the finishes and glazes of both the sculptural and ceramics so they complement the fabrics.
